I have been serving the Lord in Student Ministry at First Baptist Church of Orchard Hill since April, 2019. My focus is discipling teens through Sunday School using “The Gospel Project for Teens” and on Wednesday nights, I incorporate multimedia into my Bible lessons. We worship using music videos and I use power-point to stimulate the visual learning experience. Study has shown where teens best learn and retain through visual and audio learning.
Discipleship: The overall purpose is to inspire teens toward a deeper walk with Christ and to develop closer relationships with one another. We do this through Disciple Now weekend retreat and through other planned activities with a discipleship focus.
I have a heart for local and global missions. I have personally served on short term mission trips to Kentucky, South Carolina and Texas. I have served on global mission trips to Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Kenya, and Tanzania. I remind teens of the importance of missions on a regular basis. I feel that teens should partner with adults within the local church in participating in local and global missions.
Every month, we have a student ministry activity. The purpose in the activity is to provide a place for fellowship and incorporate God's word into the activity. Some of the monthly events include: Impact Archery, Crafty Art, Camp Fires, Games at the local park, Etc.
Centrifuge is a week-long camp sponsored by Lifeway and is held at various colleges. Each day, students participate in a Bible Study during the morning session, recreational activities during the afternoon session and participate in an energetic worship service during the evening session followed by youth group time.
Random Acts of Kindness are encouraged throughout the year. I encourage teens to get involved in the opportunities of service within the church from helping seniors to assisting in Children's ministry activities.
